Challenge

Because the office is located in a food desert, employees were spending most of their 30-minute lunch break rushing out of the office to grab a meal. Those who worked the night shift had virtually no options. It was not feasible to hire a full-time cafeteria staff to feed the team 24/7.

Solution

The Vice President of Foodservice launched a FoodSpot microstore in the employee breakroom and surveyed employees to learn what products would bring the most value. Today, the microstore is stocked with salads, sandwiches, and microwaveable meals from local grocery stores and sold at cost to employees.

Result

Employees can truly take a restful break during their lunch period, and the breakroom has become a place where team members gather, build community, and support each other.
